The Almost In-Laws won Best Musical at Theatre Now New York's 2018 Sound Bites Festival, and was a finalist for the 2018 City Theatre National Award for Short Playwriting.

Backstory

Originally, the show was about an elf who was afraid to tell his parents about getting his ears surgically modified. It ended up like this.

 


Buddhist temples, in contrast, have literal bells and whistles. This is in addition to devices that spin, beep, light up, and shoot sparks. At some level, it's unclear whether they're meant to facilitate prayer or summon the Coast Guard. ~ Cambodia: Hankering for an Angkoring
